Memorial Day weekend buzzes with new openings at the theme parks

Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer in Orlando with major new openings at both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World.

On May 25, Universal Orlando opens its third Orlando park, Volcano Bay. Made up of four immersive areas, including 18 new attractions, the brand new water park blends thrills and relaxation with new technology. At the heart of Volcano Bay stands Krakatau, the mighty volcano towering over the park, streaming waterfalls during the day and fiery lava effects at night. Inside, brave adventurers can find a variety of heart-pounding water slides. For those looking for a more relaxing island experience, the Wave Village and River Village offer relaxing beaches and reefs with attractions and activities for all ages to enjoy. You won’t have to worry about waiting in lines or carrying around a raft at this water park thanks to the TapuTapu wearable that allows guests to pay, reserve ride times, store photos, and open a storage locker all from the same device. This blend of new technology and extraordinary detail has become a hallmark of Walt Disney World.
